修習對象(Students)：1.人類學系碩士班研究生必修
2.外系外校畢業未獲抵免之博士班研究生必修
3.外系所研究生經教師同意者得以選修
4.旁聽同學須負同等修課任務。


課程目的(Purpose)：

本課程主授人類學基礎理論。從古典到當代，從「現代」批判到後現代論述，以及從概念檢討到模型建構，本課將儘可能面面俱到，讓同學們品嚐學理建置與棄置的歷程。有了本課的研修基礎，期望對同學修習其它專論課程時，能起融通開創的效果。

課程要求(Requirements)：

1. 每週平均約70頁的英文資料，每位同學務請讀畢閱讀文獻。
2. 從第四週（10月13日）起，每週由一至二位同學口頭報告該週閱讀文獻，報告時應有摘要，也有評論，報告的同學當日並主持討論。每一同學應有兩次報告的機會。
3. 從第二週（9月29日）起，每週每位同學必須事先準備好閱讀中產生的兩個問題，寫下來，並印發給教師和同學。
4. 11月10日（第八週）教師將發paper # 1題意數則，請同學們擇一撰寫約5,000字報告（社會科學標準格式）。12月5日（週二）下午6:00之前交至教師研究室。
5. 2006年元月12日（四）下午6:00之前交paper #2，題意自訂，惟須先與教師面談討論。
